PEEL Labは、ボーダレスとの協業により日本初「植物レザー製ヨガマット」を発売します

Borderless Just Launched Japan’s First Plant-based Leather Yoga Mats with PEEL Lab

大阪を拠点とするボーダレス（borderless.fun/）は、越境ECサイトなどを手掛けるエンターテインメント企業です。この度、植物由来レザーを推進するビジネスプラットフォームであるピールラボ（www.peel-lab.com）と共同開発した、日本初となる植物由来レザーを使用した「ヨガマット」をデビューさせることが決定しました。この次世代スタンダートとなり得る新素材は、ヨガマットだけでなく、今後、さまざまな新製品を作るために活用が期待されます。

私たちPEEL Labは、食品廃棄問題への取り組み、動物虐待の防止、地球温暖化の抑止という大きなミッションを達成するために、持続可能で革新的な素材でプロダクトを生み出していくと言う戦略的な考え方を持っています。

動物愛護の精神から生み出された素材はPETA（全米最大の動物愛護団体）によって公式認定されており、従来のいわゆるレザーの感触や質感によく似ています。この植物由来レザーは、動物やその他石油を原料とするプラスチック系合成皮革への代替が可能となる素材であり、多くのヨガ愛好者の中にある穏やかで持続可能性を備えた精神性とも合致するでしょう。

株式会社ボーダレス 代表取締役である表 泰之氏は、消費者に持続可能なプロダクトの選択肢を提供することの重要性を示唆しています。彼の目標は、将来の様々な分野での開発とコラボレーションにおいて、ピールラボと緊密に連携することです。

ピールラボの日本代表兼ヴァイスプレジデントである堀 弘人は「持続可能なイノベーション素材は、小売業やそこで販売される製品の将来において重要な役割を果たし続けます」と述べ、植物・果物廃棄物をアップサイクルすることで生まれる新素材の開発イノベーションは、従来素材に比べてより環境負荷が少ない生産工程を経て、よりヘルシーな環境を作り出すというピールラボのコミットメントを端的に示すものでもあります。

この「植物レザー製ヨガマット」は現在数量限定で、2021年11月中にボーダレス社運営のECサイトより販売予定となっております。

Osaka-based Borderless (borderless.fun/) will debut Japan’s first yoga accessories created with PEEL Lab (www.peel-lab.com) — a plant-based leather platform for corporations. This alternative material is used to make new yoga mats and other new products in the pipeline.

This is in line with the PEEL Lab’s ambition to be sustainable and use innovative materials in its products to achieve its mission: tackle food loss, prevent animal cruelty, and stop global warming.

The cruelty-free material is certified by PETA and is similar to traditional in feel and texture. This leather helps eliminate the need for any animal or other petroleum plastic-based synthetic leathers. This is a sustainable alternative to traditional mat.

CEO of Borderless Mr. Omote explains the importance of providing a sustainable choice of products for consumers. His goal is to work closely with PEEL Lab on future development and collaboration.

VP of PEEL Lab Mr. Horry notes that sustainable innovation will continue to play a key role in the future of retail and product, and the importance of continuous material innovation with plant-based waste will demonstrate our commitment to creating a healthier environment through lower-impact products.

These mats will be in limited quantity for now and will be available for purchase in early November 2021.
